Happy October, everyone! It’s been a beautiful Fall here in Vancouver for the most part, all blustery winds and bright, crisp leaves littering the ground. This will be a shorter newsletter as there simply isn’t much to report while we cook. Here’s what we’ve got to update you on!
Monstrous Liberation
The Dryad Update dropped at the start of October and people seem to like it! You’re welcome for the foresty BBW!
We’re presently in the early stages of planning and concepting for the Aberration Update, which will add a character who, at present, is known only as Subj. 17. S17 is, as the name of the update implies, something of an oddity. We’re still finalizing a look for S17 – Pacha did an early concept of it, but that was done back in 2023 and is badly in need of an update to get it in line with how Monstrous Liberation’s art style has evolved since then. For now, how should I describe S17… well, you know beholders? It’s not really like that. It’s also not exactly like a Biblically-accurate angel. Yeah. Maybe it’d be best to just wait to see the new sprites.
Speaking of sprites, S17 isn’t the only character getting them this update. A character we’ve met before will also be putting in an extended appearance in this update! Yippee!
Here are a few other factoids about the Aberration Update:
- It’s going to be somewhat Weird.
- It’s going to be very heavily focused on bringing the story to where it needs to be leading into the finale.
- Certain mysteries will, obliquely, be answered! Other mysteries will be introduced.
- This one will probably have less sex in it than the previously-established average. There’s still going to be SOME sex, but a not-insignificant portion of the CG budget is, this time, being set aside for non-sexual splash art.
Believe me when I say I’m looking forward to sharing more details about this one!
Tourney Of Tyranny
I’ve officially started writing the as-yet-untitled third part of Tourney of Tyranny. I might have only written one single sentence of it so far, but that still counts! Believe me when I say I’m anxious to get back to it, as it’s something I’ve always had fun with.
The Consumption Stumption
Playing: Oh my fucking god I’ve been playing so much of Intelligent Systems’ Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. Well, I mean, it FEELS like I’ve been playing so much of it after having put roughly 70 hours into finishing two of the currently-available four character routes, but I have friends who have put in over three times that much. Is it sometimes plodding and bloated? Undeniably. But it’s also extremely fun and has exactly the kind of Three-Houses-extending lore that I’ve been craving ever since I hit roll credits on Three Hopes. My one gripe is that it really has choked every other possible game I could be playing. Like, I’m hearing really good things about Dressmaker! I think that game looks fucking cool! My sister just got me TR-49 for my birthday! I’d love to play that! But I’m just so locked in to Fortune’s Weave! Fuck!!
Watching: I got out to see a couple films for this year’s Vancouver International Film Festival, and they were both heaters. The first was Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth!, in which Pedro Pascal gives a virtuoso-level performance as a gifted cellist with a difficult upbringing who’s struggling to manage what’s turned into a very chaotic life. It’s a difficult film to summarize, but the two hours I spent watching it felt as though they passed exceptionally quickly. The second film was Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson’s Wicker, an erotic fable starring Olivia Coleman, Alexander Skarsgard, and Peter Dinklage. Wicker was utterly phenomenal. 10/10 movie in all regards. Perfect performances, amazing effects, excellent sex scenes, wonderful cinematography, sharp writing, just the kind of movie that makes you grateful movies are a thing you get to see. Highly, HIGHLY recommend you check it out when it hits theatres.
Wrapping Up
That does it for this update! Apologies for there not being a whole ton to show off this time around, but with any luck that’ll have changed by this time next month! Please consider supporting us on Patreon or Subscribestar! Thank you for continuing to follow BP Games and enjoy the things we create!
