It’s the end of a long day… I strip out of my work clothes, grab my Lovense vibrator, and sit myself in front of my computer to boot up some of my favorite porn games. And once I’m settled and ready for some well-deserved stress relief… I hit the “go live” button.

For those of you who have been out of the loop, recent years have led to the rise of “VTubers,” which are essentially people who use virtual avatars to represent themselves when creating content online. There are entire companies dedicated to this niche of streaming, and it has quickly spread from Japan to countries all over the world. And eventually, as all things on the internet do, it would become a new way to create porn.

Enter lewdtubers. Lewdtubing is the collective term for VTubers that specialize in NSFW content in some way, whether it’s drawing NSFW art, making NSFW audios or ASMR, or doing camshows and porn. The most complicated rigs involve full-scale motion capture setups, sometimes requiring specialized programs and teams to get a single camshow running. Others use more rudimentary VR technology to get full-body capture, and will record or livestream porn with VR avatars. Some opt for 2D avatars, often emphasizing high quality art and rigging, or fancy audio setups that make for pristine lewd ASMR experiences.

I’m a lewdtuber who primarily specializes in playing eroge and camming. I started streaming in 2020, the same time many people explored streaming and online content creation due to the pandemic lockdown. When I first started, I didn’t have much of a game plan. I had a gaming laptop, a decent microphone, and some games that had been sitting in my library. I didn’t even start with camming, my earliest streams were entirely based around me just reading visual novels out loud and faking some moans for added effect. My passion for streaming has always been the simple joy of sharing eroge, especially visual novels, with a crowd. It was a niche interest I had never been able to share with too many people in my public life, so I took my hobby to the digital realm.

As time passed, I learned more about my sexuality and desires which led me to begin camming. This added a whole new level of fun to my streaming. One of my favorite things that tends to happen is the viewers who try to make my streams more “immersive” by tipping for actions that match whatever is going on in the game. If she gets spanked, I get spanked. If she sucks cock, I suck a dildo. If she cums… well, you get the pattern. It added a whole new level of engagement to a genre I already loved.

For my viewers, they get to experience their favorite indie adult games being voice acted. My stream setup is on the cheaper side, mostly due to needing to prioritize things like bills and basic life expenses before I go investing thousands into a gaming PC and VR rig. I don’t have full body tracking, or even basic facial mocap. And yet, I’ve been able to bring life to my streams with my voice. It’s one of the compliments I receive the most, both in my own life and during streams. I’m no professional, but it does make me giddy every time someone mentions that I have a good voice for narration and voicework. Even moreso since I get to read some kinky sex scenes!

There have also been some streams where I’ll gamify the lewd elements. My favorite has been healslutting in Overwatch. Healslutting is a niche of powerplay in video games where healers typically perform sexual actions while providing support. In my case, I was healing while also sucking a dildo mounted in front of my laptop. You haven’t truly played Overwatch until you’ve guided your team to victory while also having 7 inches of silicone in your mouth. Other examples would include things like being “punished” for dying in games like Dead By Daylight or Celeste. It adds an exciting element to mainstream games that helps to keep things interesting when the gameplay starts to feel repetitive.

However, what I’ve enjoyed most about my time as a lewdtuber has been the sense of community. I have a relatively small following, but it was never about the numbers for me. What I really enjoy is seeing new and familiar chatters in my streams, enjoying stories together, and discussing all of the adorable waifus and sexy shenanigans in the games I play. Although most of the eroge I play tends to be romantic comedies, like the wonderfully cute yuri series Lewd Idol Project, you can find a surprising amount of depth if you know where to look. Games like Evenicle and Harem Hotel feature complex storylines and well-developed characters that truly got me and my viewers engaged. I ended up enjoying Harem Hotel so much I even cosplayed one of the main heroines: an elf maid named Lin. Previously, I would have had nowhere to share that passion, but I’ve created a space where I can be openly and unabashedly passionate about eroge.

One of the disadvantages of being involved in the eroge community is the stigmatization of porn and erotic works. As we’re seeing now, erotic art is being censored by most social media websites, and certain kinds of content are outright being banned by credit card companies and payment processors. Hentai, kink, or even just sex in general is still seen as shameful, and certainly not something that should be talked about openly. As a result, fandoms around eroge are few and far between, and don’t feature the same depth of discussion and engagement that most other fandoms have. In my daily life, I’ve attended kink parties and socials where I would sometimes bring up eroge as a topic for discussion. It was always incredible to see how excited some people would get over finally having a chance to discuss the games they enjoyed. I’ve made entire friendships on the basis of a mutual enjoyment of eroge. The fans are out there. They just hide their passion.

Although my streams have changed over the years, the games have always been the forefront of my niche. I love showing off all of the wonderful work indie developers are puttng into the scene, and I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with some developers on promotional campaigns, and even ended up starting a podcast with Spooky Dangerous from the company TwoHotMILFs to discuss adult game development and culture. I’ve gotten to explore so many wonderful eroge over the years, and the best part is I had a community of fans to enjoy it with. It always makes me happy when someone says I’m playing one of their favorites, or when I’m able to introduce someone to a new game they would have never played before. It can be hard to promote adult content on the internet, so I’m glad to do my part by spreading a bit of word of mouth for so many of my favorite eroge.

If any of that sounds interesting to you, the world of adult game streaming is on the rise. Sites like Joystick and ePlay are advertised as gaming-centric camsites, and even mainstream camsites like Chaturbate and ManyVids now allow gaming, albeit with a few caveats.
